Deb Martin, candidate for Ward 8 Municipal Councillor

Who is Deb Martin?

Deb Martin is a homeowner and proud neighbour in Ward 8, South Chatham. Since putting down roots here, she has developed a genuine love for Chatham-Kent — its neighbourhoods, its people, and the quiet pride that runs through this community.

In a world that often feels divided, Deb believes it's time to bring principles back into politics.

Throughout her life, she has had the privilege of serving her community in many different ways — as a cook, bringing people together around a shared table; as a Spill Coordinator, helping protect the environment when the community needed it most; as a Volunteer Firefighter, protecting lives and property; and as a Minister, walking alongside people through both joyful and difficult times, offering support, encouragement, and hope.

Every one of those experiences taught her something important: people matter.

Deb believes the best decisions are made by listening first. She wants to hear what's working, what's not, and what matters most to the people who live here. She doesn't claim to know everything, but she's not afraid to ask questions, learn, and work with others to find the best solutions for the community.

If elected, she will carry residents' concerns, ideas, and voices into the Council Chamber every time she walks through those doors — because that's who she's there to represent.

Deb won't promise to fix every problem, because no one person can. What she will promise is this: she will work hard, communicate honestly, be accessible, and always do her best to represent the people of Ward 8 with integrity.

She believes a councillor should be visible, approachable, and accountable — treating people with respect, working together, and putting the community first. Strong communities aren't built by one person. They're built when we listen to one another, work together, and care about the people around us.

Ward 8 is a wonderful place to call home. Together, we can build on its strengths, address its challenges, and make it an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Deb would be honoured to earn your trust and serve as your Ward 8 Councillor.

Deb Martin's commitment to Ward 8 — Listen, Advocate, Be Accountable, Build a Stronger Community

Why I'm Running

I've spent my life serving others — not seeking recognition, but helping people, solving problems, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

As a minister, and now a pastor, I've learned to listen with compassion, serve with integrity, and walk alongside people through both life's challenges and successes.

As a former municipal employee with the Town of Caledon, I gained a strong understanding of how local government works, the importance of accountability, and how thoughtful decisions impact our communities.

As a volunteer firefighter, I learned to stay calm under pressure, work as part of a team, and always put people first.

Today, through my work with Chatham Towing Services and my company, Tow Well Inc., I continue serving the public by promoting road safety, training professionals, and helping strengthen our community.

Most importantly, I'm your neighbour. I live in South Chatham, I care deeply about Ward 8, and I'm invested in building a strong, connected community for today and for future generations.

I'm running for Ward 8 because I believe our community deserves a councillor who listens first, asks thoughtful questions, and works collaboratively to find practical, common-sense solutions. I don't claim to have all the answers, but I promise to be accessible, work hard, and always put the people of Ward 8 first.

Together, we can build a stronger Ward 8. Stronger Together.
